The Steve Jobs moments.

It's not often a proprietor shares his personal vision in such a public way.

But this new way of writing is influenced by the COVID months that have shown me that I cannot travel the road to becoming the regions best MYOB practice without shining the light on my journey and lifting the shadow on the path ahead of us.

I chose MYOB. It was a deliberate decision. I didn't just reject the others., I turned the practice upside down, twice.

I reasoned they understood Steve Jobs mantra, Simple can be harder than complex: you have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.

I can assure you I was unsure about many things but mainly the timing.

This week, in fact, this Tuesday, I begin work on new Statutory Reporter. I can assure you that those reports will emphasise the financial stories of clients.

And for the team, a new level of efficiency. I know you won't believe it until you get your hands on it. But the reImagination has us working more quickly on files, and the shifting away from production to advice is the end part of this road. This is senior-level work something I know you have always wanted to do. Ultimately we become a smaller team creating rather than producing.

Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That's because they were able to connect experiences they've had and synthesise new things. Also, from Steve Jobs.

And finally.

Ka pū te ruha, ka hao te rangatahi.

The old net is cast aside, while the new net goes a-catching.
