Are we ready to consider Carbon Neutral?

Environment Discussion for the Practice.

Background:  We need to understand the impact we as a Practice have on the environment. We need to understand what solutions there are.

Comment:  The practice has a Carbon Footprint; we consume electricity, use fuel, and create waste that finds itself in the landfill.

Major areas:

Electricity.

We use LED bulbs, and we use high-efficiency air conditioners in the office. Some rooms use high energy fan heaters. Some of the rooms require significant cooling in summer.

Paper.  We buy in paper, packaging, and plastic bags. We do not select our suppliers based on their commitment to reducing Carbon or consider the compostable or recyclable nature of the products.

Food. Although minor, we do not consider the impact of packaging on our buying decisions.

Possible Action points.

Electricity:

Replace blinds with more Thermal efficient blinds. Add small air conditioning into other rooms. More smart monitoring of air conditioning.

Paper and Bags;

Source recycled printing paper and similar standards for envelopes

Use compostable bags, courier bags.  Look at this link.

Food: 

Displosbale coffee cups. Change to refillable Nespresso containers.
